Carpentry
  • Build a custom residential home from the ground up
  • Work in all aspects of construction including estimating, framing, roofing, and interior finishing
  • Operate a wide-range of hand, power, and air tools to build structures from rough lumber to finish grade
Program Description:
Due to increasing employment opportunities for skilled trades craftsmen, carpentry continues to be a popular career choice. The Carpentry program is designed to assist students in developing the knowledge, attitudes and skills required of carpenters engaged in residential and industrial construction. First-year students develop skills in safety, tool use, material selection and construction techniques. These students demonstrate their skills in lab through competency tests and hands-on construction of a variety of projects. Second-year students apply their knowledge and skills by building a house that meets all required standards and codes. Each house is custom built to customer specifications. Upon successful completion of this program, students will have many employment opportunities.

Program Accomplishments:

The Carpentry class has produced many regional and state winners for the SkillsUSA competition. State champions earn the right to represent all of Ohio at the national contest in Kansas City, Mo.
