Program Description:

The Cosmetology program is fully certified by the Ohio Cosmetology State Board. Graduates are expected to take state board examinations upon successful completion of their two-year program. Passing these exams is a requirement for licensing necessary for professional employment. Jobs as hair stylists and cosmetologists are ranked by Money Magazine among the “America’s 50 Hottest Jobs.”

This program offers students the opportunity to receive training in such skills as hair care; hair coloring and highlighting; permanent waving and relaxing; hair cutting and styling; pedicure and manicure techniques; and quality skin care. Students will learn application of the latest salon and cosmetic products used in today’s hair care industry. Students will start their careers by learning proper use of equipment, safety requirements and cleanliness procedures. Students will practice cutting techniques on mannequins and each other before providing services for clients. Clients have the opportunity to receive services during regular school hours by appointment so that students gain practical experiences in mastering their skills.  Students have the opportunity to participate and belong to Skills USA.

Class Champions and their accomplishments:

Cosmetology class has trained many regional and state winners for the SkillsUSA Competitions. These students compete in the nail and manicure contest, cosmetology contest and the job-interviewing contest.
