Health Tech Academy
  • Explore a wide range of medical careers through practical lab experiences
  • Emphasis on nurse assistant certification, medical/lab procedures, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Use professional medical equipment, technology, and techniques to improve the healthcare of others

Program Name Change

Some restructuring is taking place in the Health Tech Academy Program.  Within the Academy will be two levels .... Health Technologies and CTP Health Technologies.

Medical Occupations will now be referred to as Health Technologies and Health Technologies will now be referred to as CTP (College Tech Prep) Health Technologies.

We are hoping this name change will help students better understand that both programs cover the same material  -- just at different paces.  In both programs students have the opportunity to earn the State Tested Nurse Assisting certification.  Both programs prepare students to continue their education in the medical field beyond high school.  Students are placed in each program based on the 9th and 10th grade transcript.

Program Description

This program introduces the nursing process that includes development and delivery of basic nursing skills in a health care facility or community setting. Clinical experiences are correlated with classroom instruction so that students learn required skills. Students learn to provide physical and emotional support to patients by providing therapeutic, rehabilitative, and preventive health care services.

Many of the fastest growing occupations are concentrated in the health services field and 14% of ALL job growth will be in health services. Factors contributing to continued growth in this industry include the aging population, which will continue to require more services, and the increased use of innovative medical technology for intensive diagnosis and treatment. The Department of Labor projects a 26% increase in just the number of health care job openings. Health care careers will remain the rising stars of employment outlook.
