Buckeye Hills Regional Council awarded funding to nine training providers totaling $1 million in funding to support locally derived and vetted job training projects across southeast Ohio. Tri-County Career Center received $85,000 for a Solar Training Opportunities Project. This project will allow for instructors and multiple training opportunities for students in the area of solar power. Tri-County intends to purchase a trainer that would give certification in sixty areas, enabling Students to graduate with in demand technical skills. Athens-based Third Sun Solar will assist in implementation to ensure a proper curriculum and techniques are in place for the instructor and students to prepare them for jobs in the solar industry related fields. The project will serve Athens, Hocking, Meigs, and Perry Counties.
