Program Description:
This 300-hour course will provide you the training you need to
Curriculum:

Pole climbing, maneuverability and heights

Installation and removal of various types of pole hardware
-
Basic pole safety and belt transitioning
-
Proper use of pole body belts, gaffs, climbers, and other safety equipment
-
Basic chain saw, ladder use and safety
-
Basic rope knots, splices, proper hand lines techniques and gaff sharpening
-
Groundman responsibilities and conducting job and safety briefings
-
Basic circuit identification and line patrolling
-
Proper equipment maintenance
-
Install and remove transformers, reclosers, and regulators
-
Transformer, recloser, and regulator connections
-
Training with live-line tools
-
Line Truck and Bucket Truck operations
-
Certification opportunities (OSHA 10 and First Aid CPR)
Additional Opportunities:
Students who successfully complete this course have the opportunity to earn their CDL through Washington County Career Center at an additional cost of $4010. This training at WCCC consists of 160 hours of coursework/ driving. Classes at WCCC can be completed Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm for four weeks OR eight weekends, Saturday-Sunday 7:00am-5:30pm.
